a crowded fall hike {personal}

Tim, Olivia and I made it to the mountains only a few times this summer/fall.  One of these times was at the end of September when we tried to hike a trail near Brainard Lake.  The weather was gorgeous, the aspens were at their peak, and unfortunately every body and their brother decided it was the perfect day for a hike too!  We couldn’t find parking at the trail head, so we settled for a walk around the lake.  We ventured into the surrounding forest a bit, just so that we could feel adventurous (my cowboy hat added to the adventurous spirit!)  The scenery was worth the trip, and Liv had a blast learning how to skip stones on the lake with daddy.

pinder & brian {engagement}

My dear friends, Pinder & Brian, tied the knot this past July with a gorgeous Indian ceremony in Bellingham, Washington.  We had hoped to do engagement photos before the wedding, but decided that things would be less hectic after the big day.  On a warm fall afternoon in September, I met the two of them at the Denver Botanic Gardens for our post-wedding engagement session.  We had fun finding interesting backdrops, and enjoyed the final days of the summer foliage.

jake & justin {kids}

Jake & Justin, two of my nephews, are always (well almost always) eager to let me photograph them.  Actually, they are both becoming quite good models, with signature poses even!  Too cute.  At the end of September, we found this neat little wooded area in the heart of suburbia in which to frolick (because that’s what you do in wooded areas.)
